Staff Reporter :The ruling Awami League (AL) finally expelled Abdul Latif Siddiqui from all party posts, including his primary membership, for hurting religious sentiments of the Muslims. Awami League Central Working Committee (ALCWC) took the decision unanimously at a meeting on Friday evening.The meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s official residence Ganobhaban with AL President Sheikh Hasina in the chair. Emerging from the meeting, Syed Ashraful Islam, AL spokesperson and LGRD and Cooperatives Minister said, Latif was expelled from the AL for hurting the religious sentiments of the Muslims.”Latif’s reply to the show-cause notice was not satisfactory and thus the party has taken the decision,” he said, adding that Latif would not be allowed to appeal against the decision.Earlier on October 12, the ALCWC removed Latif from the AL presidium and suspended his primary membership of the party following his derogatory remarks on Hajj and Tablig Jamaat.On the same day, Latif was also sacked from the Cabinet.
