BSS, Gaibandha :
Agri-experts at a function here on Thursday advised farmers to use the latest and sustainable agri technologies for boosting agricultural production and attaining food security.
“Importance should be given to familiarize the farmers with modern agri-technologies instead of traditional ones to increase the overall production of crops,” they said.
The agri-experts made the comments while addressing a concluding ceremony of two-day farmers’ training on agri-technology transfer at the Sadar upazila agriculture office here.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) arranged the training programme under the project ‘Farmers Training in Upazila Level for Technology Transfer’ (Second phase).
Deputy Director of DAE Mir Abdur Razzak addressed the function as the chief guest while Sadar upazila agriculture officer AKM Sadiqul Islam presided over the function.
The chief guest advised the farmers to apply the knowledge acquired from training properly in producing crops and to share it with the fellow farmers. He said sharing of knowledge will help boost the overall crop production.
Later, he distributed certificates and training allowances among 50 farmers of the upazila.
District training officer of DAE M. Aminul Islam, upazila agriculture officer AKM Sadiqul Islam and agriculture extension officer M. Zakir Hossain conducted the training session as the resource persons.
The farmers were imparted training on different issues including alternative wetting and drying method, importance of organic matter, role of quality seed, usage of balanced fertilizer, guti urea and leaf color chart, irrigation management, integrated crop management, crop cutting, post harvest processing and climate change and adaptation in agriculture.
