Lane for bicycle in city demanded

Bangladesh Cycle Lane Bastabayan Parishad (BCLBP) on Thursday formed a human chain demanding separate bicycle lane in the city in order to make the city lively and livable.
Such an initiative would also help protect the environment, improve public health and also boost economy, observed speakers at the human chain formed at the premises of Fine Arts Faculty of Dhaka University (DU) in the morning.
They also collected mass signatures at the human chain.
Later, the participants marched towards the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) office and submitted a memorandum there.
They said, mortality rate is increasing day by day due to various diseases, such as diabetes, cardiac ailments and blood pressure. But only a few minutes of cycling a day can reduce this rate.
The speakers also said pollution of the environment is increasing alarmingly due to a rise in the number of motor vehicles. Emission of carbon from such vehicles is also contributing to the global climate change. Among others, BCLBP President Aminul Islam, Sammilita Sankritik Jote President Gulam Kuddus Engineer Abul Kashem and Sculpture Rasha were present, among others, at the human chain.
