Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif has said the government is carrying out land zoning to ensure planned utilization of each inch of land.
“The present government was very sincere to complete the land zoning through ‘the National Land Zoning Project’ of land ministry to protect the country’s agricultural land and to ensure planned urbanization,” he told a workshop on “Land Zoning” in the conference room of district administration in Sirajganj on Thursday, an official release said on Friday. Sharif said the authorities concerned have already started land-zoning activities to ensure land management in a fair and planned-way all over the country through forest preservation, river protection, saving water bodies and cultivable land, protection of hills, prevention of environment and river pollution.
“Land zoning activities have already begun at 326 upazilas under 43 districts and the zoning would be expanded gradually in all the districts, he added In an effort to introduce modern land management system, the government is using ICT-based programme to remove land related problems in the country.
Project Director of the National Land Zoning Project Kafil Uddin, Administrator of Siraiganj District Council Abdul Latif Biswas and officials, among others, addressed the workshop.
