Land dispute leaves 3 killed, 10 injured in Rangpur

Police have recovered bodies of three people in separate incidents of land dispute in Rangpur. Clashes broke out in Charbaghdohra village in Gangachara on Tuesday over a land dispute between two UP members. Two people were killed. 10 people were injured.
On the other hand, Taraganj police have recovered the hanging body of a young man in Rangpur’s Taraganj. The body of the rescued youth is in Koranipara village of Hariarkuthi union of Bari upazila. Due to this, a fight took place between the two at around 1 pm. Former UP member Saiful’s elder brother Riazul (58) died on the spot. Later Azizul Islam (48) was seriously injured. He died on the way to Rangpur Medical College (RAMEC) Hospital. Amena (18), Helal (34), Serajul (30), Ajipa (50) and Abul Kalam (25) were injured in the incident. Nohli UP chairman Abul Kalam Titul admitted the fight and said there had been a land dispute between the two sides for a long time.
There had been a fight before. Gangachara Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sushant Kumar Sarkar admitted the incident. On the other hand, police recovered the body of the youth in Taraganj. The body was found hanging from a mango tree in a local cemetery on Tuesday morning.
When they later informed the police, the police recovered the body and sent it to Rangpur morgue for autopsy. Saiful Islam, the elder brother of the deceased, claimed that his brother was killed by several others including Bulu Master, a teacher at Chanderpukur Girls’ High School in the same village. Police recovered a note mentioning the names of some people from the pockets of the recovered bodies.
Hariyarkuthi UP chairman Harun Aur Rashid Babul said an autopsy would reveal what the incident was. Taraganj Police Station OC Faruk Hossain said the body was recovered and sent to Romek morgue for autopsy.
