High tax demanded: Land can’t be transferred to Govt by 6 non-govt colleges in Pabna

Six non-government colleges in Pabna district can not hand over their property to the Government for nationalization due to high demand of tax .
Principals of these college went to sub-registry offices for registration of deed but Sub-Register demanded 3% local Govt. and 3% stamp duty on last Sunday. As a result, no college could register any deed of gift in this district until Tuesday.
Md. Shahizzaman, Principal , Haji Jamal Uddin Degree College and Md Mizanur Rahman,Principal of Chatmohor Degree College said , they are registering their property to the Government where as Sub-Register reversed huge tax demand is being sought by the college.
Ministry of education issued a circular to be sent a Deed of Gift on an emergency basis on last 20 April.
It was informed that the Government appointment’s(Secretary ,secondary and higher education department,ministry of education,Peoples Pepublic of Bangladesh)to publish the Gazette,publication of Haji Jamal Uddin Degree College,Chatmohor Degree College,Santhia Degree College,Atgharia College,Bera College and Dr.Zahurul Kamal Degree College in Pabna district.
Md Khalilur Rahman,principal of Atgharia College said that many colleges in the adjacent districts performed donation tax free of cost on last Sunday but the matter of taxation of Sub-Registers of Pabna is tragic. Manindranath Barmon,district Register of Pabna said that last April 26,the Inspector General of the Department of Registration issued a letter to the tax collector to complain that the complexity has been created.
