Newly appointed interim Head Coach of Bangladesh Football team Mario Lemos has included Obaidur Rahman Nawab in his Bangladesh preliminary football squad for the upcoming Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa Trophy scheduled to be held at the Racecourse Stadium in Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka. Nawab has played for reigning champions Bashundhara Kings in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football. Earlier, Nawab was a member of Qatar’s top football club Al Duhail FC.
Hosts Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Seychelles and Maldives will take part in the Four-Nation Football Tournament. Two top teams will play in the final. Bangladesh will take on Seychelles in their first match on November 8, Bangladesh will face Maldives in their second match on November 11, Bangladesh will play against Sri Lanka in their third match on November 14. The final will take place on November 17.
Mario Lemos reached Dhaka from South Korea on Sunday last. After that, Lemos gave a players’ list to the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF). The BFF did not officially announced that players’ list. Lemos has given an idea about his team. He said, “The 23 footballers, who were included for the outgoing SAFF Championship, all have been included in my squad. I have also included seven footballers in my squad.”
The new footballers, who have been called for the preliminary squad, are: Obaidur Rahman Nawab, Mashuk Mia Jonny, Sushanto Tripura, Yeasin Khan, Mehedi Hasan, Mehedi Hasan Royal and Atiquzzaman. Apart from Nawab, the other six players were included in the Bangladesh Football squad in different times. Nawab is for the first time included in the Bangladesh Football squad.
Mario Lemos said about Nawab, ” He is a talented footballer. I want to watch him closely.”
Expatriate footballer of Finland Tarique Kazi has a complication of passport. So, There is a confusion, if he can join the Bangladesh squad. If Nawab can earn the attention of Mario Lemos, he can get chance in the final squad.
