Local government and Rural Development Minister Tajul Islam MP has said that the desired development is not taking place in Chittagong due to lack of coordination. He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of ‘Patenga Booster Pump Station’ under the Chittagong Water Supply and Sanitation Project at Radisson BluHotel in the city at 12:30 pm yesterday . Speaking as the chief guest, the minister said it was not necessary to load all the burden on him by electing only one mayor.
Everyone has to cooperate. And to do that, the mayor has to come forward. Again, those who have performed various responsibilities in Chittagong also have to cooperate. If we can increase our involvement, I will also be able to cooperate in the development of Chittagong. The minister further said that the whole of Bangladesh will be developed, but the Prime Minister does not believe that Chittagong will not be developed.
The government has always given priority to the development of Chittagong. But you must take advantage of this priority. Chittagong is the economic gateway of Bangladesh. Garbage is lying around the river, land is being leased and occupied by industry, which is never desirable. This is not a country of bandits. Chittagong WASA Board Chairman Prof.Dr.Jahangir Alam presided the inaugural ceremony.
Senior Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Md. Helaluddin addressed the function as the special guest . Boalkhali MP Moslem Uddin Ahmed, Chandnaish MP Nazrul Islam, Satkania-Lohagara MP Abu Reza Nadvi, Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, President of Mahanagar Mahila Awami League Hasina Mohiuddin were present in it as honourable guests.
