The dumping of poultry excrement and wastes in the country’s only natural fish breeding centre – Halda river in Chittagong is rampantly continuing despite warnings of the respective authorities.
The residents of the river banks alleged that lack of proper compliance with exemplary punishment against the violators , the poultry farm owners did not dare the warnings of the administration. Mentionable that this natural fish breeding centre is going towards ruination day by day and the mother fish famous Halda river is being sick gradually.
The locals allege that the poultry owners of the area not giving importance to the warnings of the administration, and movement of the environmentalists against the river pollution.
The daring poultry owners and poultry traders beside Halda river are not heeding towards warnings and publicity of the environmentalists and dumping of wastes are continued. Our Raozan correspondent told that he talked with the locals from Madunaghat to Napiterghat about 10- kilomer and they alleged against the poultry farms and poultry traders for their disobedience against govt warnings. They said a section of affluent in these areas are randomly dumping the wastes of the poultry birds and leftovers in the river.
Following unhindered dumping of poultry excrements in the Halda, the river water being polluted day by day resulting damage of fish breeding storage.Majority poultry farms are grown on bank of Halda in Hathazari portions surrounding Ramdas Munshir Hat and wastes of these farms are regularly dumping in the Halida river. Our Raozan correspondent sources said .
Raozan UNO told that there is no such poultry farHalm in Raozan section of Halda river . He also zasaid lifting of sand from Halda officiallya prohibited and no sand filed yet leased out . UNO further said , any dumping of poultry wastes and illegal lifting of sand from Raozan section of Halda will be dealt with seriously, our correspondent added.
