Makeup mogul Kylie Jenner has faced severe backlash on Twitter for asking fans to donate to a GoFundMe page for her makeup artist’s brain surgery.
Noted celebrity makeup artist Samuel Rauda suffered from a massive accident earlier this month and as a result will be undergoing major surgery, reports CNN.
The Keeping Up With the Kardashian star posted an Instagram story and asked her 222 million followers to help pay his medical bills. The initial goal was $10,000 and an account under Jenner’s name on GoFundMe shows a donation of $5,000. The Instagram story has since expired, but screenshots of it have been making the rounds on social media. Jenner’s fans have criticised the beauty industry mogul for calling on others to donate and also pointed out her own substantial net worth, which Forbes currently estimates at $700m.
After receiving such backlash, Jenner cleared up the situation via Instagram Stories recently.
“I feel it’s important for me to clear up this false narrative that I’ve asked fans for money and am not paying for my makeup artist’s medical bills. Sam isn’t my makeup artist and unfortunately we don’t have a personal relationship anymore but I have worked with him a few years ago and think he’s the sweetest. I saw my current makeup artist and friend Ariel post about Sam’s accident and his family’s gofundme and I called Ariel immediately to see what happened to Sam,” Jenner writes.
