Kuwait Army chief visits DEPZ

Kuwait Armed Forces praised the production system, international standard products and the operational activities of EPZs. The Deputy Chief of Staff of Kuwait Army Lieutenant General Mohammed Khaled AIKhadher, psc, lauded BEPZA during his visit in Dhaka Export Processing Zone on Sunday.
Major General Mohd. Habibur Rahman Khan, ndc, psc, the Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) received the high power delegation in Dhaka EPZ. He informed General Khaled about the overall scenario of EPZ as well as BEPZA. Mentioning Bangladesh EPZs as the ‘Bonanza for Investors’ he said that investors from 37 countries have set up industries in the EPZs. BEPZA is prominent as a brand In the global market. BEPZA Chief uttered that Kuwait is very good triend and long-standing development partner of Bangladesh. He also informed General Khaled that presently EPZ has one joint venture garments industry with Kuwait is going to operation soon in Adamjee EPZ.
Highlighting the increasing success in investment and employment generation Mr. Ashraful Kabir, General Manager of DEPZ said, about 3,89,000 workers have been employed in 428 operating enterprises of 8 EPZs running under BEPZA and exported goods worth US$ 40 billion. He said that US$ 3188 million have been invested in the established industries. Industrial friendly peaceful investment climate is the main attraction of EPZ and the key strengths of EPZs are amicable cohesive teamwork and harmonious relations among Worker-Management-Owner, he added.
Later on delegations of Kuwait Armed Force went round garments industry Youngone Hi-Tech Sportswear Industries Ltd. of Korea and Tigerco Ltd. of Belgium who produces uniform, bags for military. Leader of the Kuwait Army delegation General Khaled keenly observed the production system of the factory and impressed to see the international standard products. He appreciated the investment friendly congenial atmosphere prevailing in the zone and hope that the goods produced in the EPZs of Bangladesh will make a better position in the world market. Nazma Binte Alamgir, General Manager (Public Relations) of BEPZA and other high officials of Dhaka EPZ were also present in the program.
