Island upazila Kutubdia under greater Chattogram will get power supply through submarine cables within next six month from national grid of Power Development Board. This will be second island upazila after Sandwip island upazila.
The total cost of the electrification works estimated Tk.80 crores. Under the mega power project of PDB Chattogram south zone circle , the submarine cable line to Kutubdia included. Chief Engineer of Chattogram Southern zone Engr.
Prabir Kumar Sen told that the Tk.2600crores mega power project will be implemented by 2030 in phases which may met the total demand of power in greater Chattogram.
Concerned south circle Engineer said Chattogram Power Distribution Development Project-2 project will implement modernization of power supply in greater Chattogram through constructing 25 new sub stations, power supply increase in existing 15 sub stations, installation of 800 KMs power transmission line and replacement of 5000 latest high powered transformers. Engr Prabir Kumar Sen hoped that the works of this mega project will be completed by June ,2022 .
Chief Engineer of PDB, Engr. Prabir Kumar sen also told that mega Power project of worth Tk.2600 crores has been proposed including the installations of underground cables.
Tenders for the mega project will be called in this month and it is expected that the total installation works will be launched by end of this year for ensuring life security. In the port city, there are 60 sq miles transmission line for consumers.
He said this mega power development project is expected to be completed by 2030 .He further apprised that though the power demand of Chattogram is 1300 megawatt which will gradually to go upto 3000megawatt and followings the completion of mega power project , the consumers of Chattogram will be relieved from power disruptions and load shedding anymore..
