KU celebrates 24th Founding Anniversary

Students, teachers and staffs of Khulna University (KU) celebrated the 24th founding anniversary with much enthusiasm and festivity on Tuesday.
On the occasion, a colorful rally led by KU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Fayequzzaman was brought out by the teachers, students and staffs from the city’s Shibbari intersection which after parading the streets ended at Hotel Royal premises in the morning.
Earlier, KU VC inaugurated the Khulna University Day by releasing balloons and pigeons in the sky.
The VC announced that KU will observe silver jubilee anniversary next year on the day with much enthusiasm and festivity.
KU Treasurer Khan Atiar Rahman, Dean, Registrar, Disciplines Head, Director of Students Affair, and Departmental Heads, teachers, staff and huge students joined the procession.
Afterwards, a daylong blood donation program was held at KU Shahhed Minar premises followed by a doa mahfil after Zohr prayer at the KU mosque.
A cultural program was held on the campus in the afternoon and candlelight vigil was organized in the evening at Shaheed Minar, Kotka Tragedy Monument and ‘Adommo Bangla’, in memory of freedom fighters. All KU building including dormitories were also illuminated. Besides, improve diets were served in all the dormitories to mark the day.
Khulna University was launched with 80 students and four Departments in 1990-91 academic year. The then Prime Minister inaugurated its academic activities formally on November 25 the same year.
