UNB, Dhaka :
Bangladesh Krishak Samity (BSK), an organization of farmers, on Saturday expressed resentment over decline in allocation for agriculture sector in the proposed national budget for 2014-15 fiscal year.
“Allocation for agriculture sector has declined in the proposed (new) budget compared to the current one. Though Tk 111 crores more has been allocated for the sector in the new budget, it is inadequate due to increasing costs of agricultural products,” the organization said in a statement.
It expressed concern that that agriculture will face serious setbacks as it was given less importance than other the sectors in the proposed budget.
BKS demanded increase in budgetary allocation for agriculture sector to save small and marginal farmers.
