Koko`s body to arrive Tuesday

The body of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s younger son Arafat Rahman Koko, who died in Malaysia on Sunday, will arrive here on Tuesday. “The body will be flown in here on Tuesday,” BNP chairperson’s special assistant Shimul Biswas told UNB on Sunday. Meanwhile, BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said the namaz-e-janaza of Koko will be held on the premises of BNP’s Nayapaltan central office after Asar prayers on the same day. Besides, his ghaibana janaza (in absentia funeral prayers) will also be held across the country, he said. BNP standing committee members were asked to be preset at the Chairperson’s Gulshan office by 7 pm today to take decision over Koko’ s burial. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia has completed all the necessary formalities to send the body of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s younger son Arafat Rahman Koko, said an official on Sunday. “From our part, all the formalities have been done. We’ve handed over the permission letter this morning,” the official told UNB over phone preferring anonymity. The Bangladesh Mission in Kuala Lumpur also endorsed all the necessary documents, including passport, death certificate and other relevant papers. Khaleda Zia’s younger brother Shameem Iskandar is communicating with the Bangladesh Mission in Kuala Lumpur. Arafat Rahman Koko, who had been living in Malaysia on parole, died of cardiac arrest in Kuala Lumpur around 1:30pm Saturday.- Dhaka, Jan 25 (UNB)
