KOICA-World Vision kick-off workshop held

World Vision’s initiative to improve
e-commerce management and product quality control capacities of youth entrepreneurs and constructing sustainable income generating skills for community members is going to boost economy of the dry fish and betel leaf producers and entrepreneurs of Moheshkhali upazila, Cox’s Bazar. Youth entrepreneurs in agro-fishery sector through E-commerce will also be able to contribute to sustainable development of the area.
Speakers said this at the Kick-Off Workshop on ‘Capacity Building of Young Entrepreneurs for the Vitalization of the Digital Giga Island of Moheshkhali (CEVM) Project’ organised by World Vision Bangladesh Rohingya Crisis Response (WVBRCR) and RIC held at Upazila Parishad Hall Room of Moheshkhali Upazila on Sunday.
Md Yaseen, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Moheshkhali was present as the chief guest in the workshop. Special guests were Young Ah Doh, Country Director of KOICA Bangladesh; Minhyuk Kim, Director, World Vision Korea and Fredrick Christopher, Response Director, WVBRCR; Zahir Uddin, Upazila Chairman (Male) and Minu Ara Begum, Vice Chairman (Female), Moheskhali. Among others, Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer and Livestock Officer, High Officials from World Vision Korea and WVBRCR, RIC, Young Entrepreneurs, Union Parishad Chairman and Members and Dry Fish Producers were present in the workshop.
Welcoming all, World Vision Bangladesh Rohingya Crisis Response Director Fredrick Christopher said, “E-commerce is becoming a key industry in Bangladesh. According to E-commerce association of Bangladesh (e-cab) there are 17 e-commerce sites and 8 thousand e-commerce online pages exist now.”
He mentioned that E-commerce is growing across the globe and Bangladesh is at same pace. This project will help to boost digital Bangladesh.
In next five years, e-commerce sector will reach in mature state in Bangladesh and most business will be digital.
There is 5 billon USD target of ICT exports in 2023 and this project will play a vital role to achieve this goal.
Chief Guest Moheshkhali Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Yaseen appreciated KOICA and World Vision for initiating this intervention to enhance capacity of young entrepreneurs and producers.
