The Kiwis made 265 for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 50 overs against the Tigers in their last Group-A match of the ICC Champions Trophy in Cardiff on Friday.
New Zealand had a modest start as Martin Guptill and Luke Ronchi, the two openers put on together 46 runs in the opening stand before Luke Ronchi (16) was caught at the mid-on by Mustafizur Rahman off Taskin Ahmed.
Martin Guptill, the other opener of New Zealand was trapped leg before wicket by Rubel Hossain when the Kiwis’ total was 69 for the loss of two wickets.
Then Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor repaired the damage contributing together 83 runs for the third wicket partnership before Kane Williamson was run out by a joint-effort of Shakib Al Hasan and Mosaddek Hossain when New Zealand’s score was 152 for the loss of three wickets.
Williamson hit a captain’s knock of 57. His 69-ball innings was laced with five fours. It was Williamson’s 31st ODI half century.
After dismissal of Williamson, Ross Taylor and Neil Broom added together 49 runs in the four-wicket stand before Ross Taylor was caught by Mustafizur Rahman off Taskin Ahmed when the Kiwis’ total was 201 for the loss of four wickets.
Ross Taylor notched up a fine 63. His 82-ball innings was belted with six fours. It was Taylor’s 37th ODI half century.
After departure of Taylor, the Kiwis batsmen failed to build any notable partnership against the tight bowling attack of Bangladesh bowlers.
Mosaddek Hossain dismissed Neil Broom for 36, removed Corey Anderson for a duck and picked up the wicket of James Neesham for 23.
Later, Left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman bowled out Adam Milne for seven when the Kiwis score was 252 for the loss of eight wickets.
Promising Mosaddek Hossain grabbed three wickets at the cost of 13 runs, while Taskin Ahmed begged a pair of wickets instead of 43 runs.
Besides, Mustafizur Rahman and Rubel Hossain took one wicket apiece.
