The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has penalised Bashundhara Kings and Uttar Baridhara Club Tk. 5 lakh for not participating in the ongoing Federation Cup. They have to pay the fine by 27 January.
The story doesn’t end here. These clubs have been banned from the next edition of the Federation Cup as well. The Federation Cup football tournament started at Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city’s Kamalapur on Saturday. Two matches were to be held on the first day. But not a single match was played.
On the second day, a single match was played as Muktijoddha Sangsad KC didn’t appear in the ground.
The BFF asked them the reason behind not playing the matches. Bashundhara did not respond while Baridhara said they are not playing in Kamalapur for fear of injury.
The federation did not find this answer acceptable. As a result, both parties have been given big punishments. On the other hand, Muktijoddha Sangsad KC have to respond by this evening. According to a BFF press release, the decision was taken unanimously in accordance with Article 31 of the BFF Disciplinary Code and Article 19.3 of the Bashundhara Group Federation Cup this year. It is learned that Muktijoddha are also going to get the same punishment.
