Staff Reporter :The government has taken initiatives to bring back Saudi expatriate Kamrul Hasan, one the suspects of Samiul Alam Rajon killing case who was caught by the fellow Bangladeshis on Monday in Jeddah, before the Eid-ul Fitr.Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Haque on Tuesday said that the murder suspect Kamrul Hasan would be brought back from Saudi Arabia to Bangladesh very shortly. According to Sylhet Metropolitan Police [SMP], the process to return Kamrul is going on slow pace as Eid vacation has already begun in different government organizations in Saudi Arabia.”Kamrul is now under the custody of Saudi detective police. The Saudi government has already cancelled his visa. It’s now matter of time to return him to Bangladesh,” Akhter Hossain, Officer-in Charge of Jalalabad Police Station, said on Tuesday. Spokesman of SMP and Additional Deputy Commissioner Rahmat Ullah said, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is looking after the matter of Kamrul. We will send a letter through INTERPOL and then he will be brought back from Saudi Arabia.”On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Joynal Abedin has announced to try to Rajon murder case under Speedy Tribunal. He made the pledge while visiting the wailing parents of the victim in their Kumargaon residence yesterday morning.The DC said that Rajon killing case would be included as the most sensitive case. SMP Commissioner Kamrul Ahsan was also with him at the time. The SMP commissioner gave Tk 20,000 donation to Rajon’s parents.Police sources said, a five-member committee has been formed to investigate the brutal killing of 13-year-old boy Rajon. SMP ADC Rahmat Ullah will lead the probe body. Other members of the committee are Assistant Commissioner of DB Police AFM Nizam Uddin, Jalalabad police Assistant Commissioner Kamrul Islam, Jalalabad OC Akhtar Hossain and second officer SI Jakir Hossain, the police said.Meanwhile, Meher Afroz Chumki, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs’, will visit Rajon’s house at Bhaierparh under Kunakgaon in the Sadar upazila of Sylhet district on Wednesday to meet with bereaved family members.The Minister will hand over a cheque to the Rajon’s family. Later, she will meet with the journalists in a view-sharing meeting in the afternoon, the DC confirmed.In this backdrop, a Sylhet court yesterday placed accused Ismail Hossain Ablu on a 5-day remand in the case for torturing Sheikh Samiul Alam Razon to death at Sundar Ali Market in Kumargaon area of the city on July 8. Judge Farhana Yeasmin of the Judicial Magistrate Court no. 2 passed the order after police produced Ismail before her court seeking a seven-day remand.Residents of 22 villages yesterday demonstrated in the village and threatened to announce tough agitation programmes if the authorities failed catch all the killers a 72-hour ultimatum. They also demanded to hang the killers by 90 days after completion of the trial through speedy tribunal. Meanwhile, the brutal killing of 13-year-old boy Samiul Alam Rajon has triggered widespread protests in different parts of the country including capital city Dhaka.A number of socio-cultural organizations and human rights bodies held rallies and human chains on Tuesday protesting Rajon’s killing, who was brutally tortured to death by a group of men for allegedly stealing a rickshawvan in the July 8 morning in Sylhet. In Dhaka, different organisations arranged protest meetings and human chain programmes in front of National Press Club in the capital on Tuesday.Of them, Central Khelaghar Asor held a rally protesting the brutal murder of Rajon yesterday. They staged the protest holding a banner: ‘We are speechless. We want exemplary punishment for those brutes in special tribunal.’Samajtantrik Chhatra Front, Samajtantrik Mohila Forum and Biggan Andolan Mancho formed human chain demanding punishment for the killers of Rajon. Meanwhile, hundreds of people, including women and children, took to the streets in Sylhet on Tuesday carrying posters of Rajon and demanding exemplary punishment for the killers.The teenage vegetable vendor was tied to a pole and beaten up for nearly 30 minutes until he died due to the torture while one of the attackers filmed the gruesome incident and uploaded it on his Facebook page.Rajan, son of a driver, screamed for help, cried for water and begged for his life while the killers laughed and jeered at him in the 28-minute video of the July 8 incident in Kumargaon of northeastern Sylhet Sadar Upazila following allegations that the teenager had stolen a rickshaw van.”We have demanded the same in many similar incidents in the past. I am now ashamed of pressing for this kind of demand. I request all to join the protest. Wherever we are, let’s stand on the road holding a placard and protest from our own positions,” said Dr Imran H Sarker, Ganajagaran Mancha spokespersonHuman-rights activist Khushi Kabir said, “I am disheartened and angry over this kind of barbaric murder. We have reached such a stage where Rajon was beaten to death before the eyes of everyone while the people were laughing but not protesting.” She said, “This is a disease.”President of Juba Union Abdullah Al Kafi Ratan said, “The State and the law-enforcing agencies can’t avoid the responsibility of the killing of Samiul Alam Rajon. They also have the responsibility to protect people by ensuring immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of Rajon’s killers.”In connection with the killing, police arrested Ismail Hossain Ablu, 32, cousin of the prime accused Muhit Alam, from Lamakaji Mirergaon area under Jalalabad police station in the city early Monday in connection with the murder of teenage boy Rajon. Muhit was arrested while trying to dump the body of Rajon on Wednesday, while Muhit’s wife Lipi Begum arrested on Monday.Jalalabad police filed a case against four people, including Muhit, his brother Quamrul Islam, 24, their associate, Ali Haider alias Ali, 34, and guard Moyna Mia alias Boro Moyna, 45, in this connection.
