Bangabandhu BPL Cricket: Khulna thrash Sylhet

Khulna Tigers thrashed Sylhet Sunrisers by nine wickets in their match of the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Thursday.
Chasing Sylhet’s total of 142 for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, Khulna sailed home making 144 for the loss of one when they had 34 balls to spare.
Khulna had a formidable start with the two openers Andre Fletcher and Soumya Sarkar put on together 99 runs in the opening stand before Soumya Sarkar was caught at the short fine leg by jubair Hossain off Nazmul Islam.
Andre Fletcher remained unbeaten with 71. He hit five sixes and five fours in his 47-ball terrific innings. Fletcher was adjudged the Man of the Match for his outstanding batting display.
Soumya Sarkar hit a polished 43. His 31-ball innings had six fours and a sixer.
After Soumya’s dismissal, Andre Fletcher and Thisara Perera guided their team to overhaul the winning target. They scored together 45 runs for the unbroken second wicket partnership.
Thisara Perera remained unbeaten with 22. He hit three fours and a sixer in his nine-ball knock.
Nazmul Islam got one wicket conceding 39 runs.
Earlier, Mohammad Mithun and Mosaddek Hossain built a remarkable partnership. They contributed together 68 runs in the fourth wicket stand before Mosaddek Hossain was caught at the point by Jaker Ali off Khaled Ahmed when Sylhet Sunrisers’ total was 102 for the loss of four wickets.
After Mosaddek’s departure, Mohammad Mithun and Muktar Ali added together 34 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Mithun was caught at the cover by Mahedi Hasan off Soumya Sarkar when Sylhet’s score was 136 for the loss of five wickets.
Mithun notched up a fine 72. His 51-ball innings had four sixes and six fours.
Mosaddek Hossain made 34 from 30 balls featuring three fours and two sixes.
Khaled Ahmed bagged two wickets in the space of 20 runs, while Nabil Samad, Soumya Sarkar and Kamrul Islam took one wicket each for 10, 16 and 31 runs respectively.
