UNB, Gazipur :
BNP mayoral candidate in Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) Hassan Uddin Sarker on Sunday voiced doubt about fair election as he claimed that the policemen of Khulna range have been deployed here to hold Tuesday’s polls in ‘Khulna style’.
“It seems to me the atmosphere at the last stage is not conducive to holding fair polls. I’ve got information from a reliable source that the police members of Khulna range have been brought here to hold the election in the same style and strategy they applied in Khulna,” he said.
The BNP mayoral candidate came up with remarks at a press conference at the party’s main electoral office at Tongi.
He alleged that Awami League is making various designs to obstruct his polling agents and resort to vote frauds.
Sarker accused the police of arresting, harassing and intimidating BNP leaders and activists and his possible polling agents.
He claimed though the ruling party candidate and his supporters are violating the election code of conduct no action has been taken yet against them.
The BNP mayoral candidate also alleged that the ruling party mayoral candidate used police vehicles for his election campaign.
He, however, believes he will win the election with a good margin if it is held maintaining minimum fairness and credibility.
Sarker also urged voters to come to polling station on Tuesday to exercise their right to vote braving all odds.
