Khulna Hi-Tech Park to be established on KUET campus

Khulna Hi-Tech park will be established in Khulna University Of Engineering & Technology (KUET) campus.
An agreement was signed in this regard by the respective authorities on November 15, 2016 between the Managing Director (MD) of the Hi-Tech Park Authority Begum Hosne Ara, NDC, Additional Secretary and Acting Registrar of KUET GM Shahidul Alam. KUET Vice chancellor (VC) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Alamgir, Deans of different faculties, director of the Institution and concerned teachers and officials were also present, among others.
With a view to make Bangladesh a middle income country by 2021, the government will set Hi-Tech parks in 12 districts in the country by giving special priority on Information Technology (IT) sector, said Begum Hosne Ara.
The districts are- Gopalganj, Khulna, Barisal, Keraniganj in Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet.
The objectives of the program are to expand ICT Industries with infrastructure development, training on ICT, make skilled manpower and creating employment opportunities for trained youths.
Concerned sources said, the Hi-Tech park will be set by expending taka around 300 crores upon 8 acres of land in KUET campus with the financial aid of ADB and an Institution of India. The structural work of the park is likely to start within 3 next months which may be completed within 2018.
Under the HTP project, the government will establish IT parks, Hi-Tech parks, and IT training & incubation centers at 28 places of 12 districts in the country.
The Hi-Tech park authority’s Managing Director Hosne Ara said, work of the Hi-Tech park will be started soon.
We are sure that if the Hi-Tech park is established in KUET campus, it would bring fruitful result, she added.
Kuet Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof. Dr. Muhamad Alamgir said, one more step will bring ahead in respect of making Digital Bangladesh, if the Hi-Tech park is established in KUET campus.
The Hi-Tech park will play an important role for the employment of unemployed youths, he added.
