Khulna bowled out for 207 on day 1 in NCL cricket

Dolar Mahmud with five wicket haul and well supported by other bowlers sent Khulna Division crashing to a paltry 207 all out in their first innings against Dhaka Metroplolis on the first day of four-day match of National Cricket League (NCL) held on Tuesday at Khan Shahed Osman Ali Stadium at Fatullah.
However, Khulna bowlers struck back to reduce Dhaka Metro for 37 for 3 when the stumps were drawn at the end of the first day’s play.
Dhaka Metropolis skipper Marshal Ayub won the cherished toss and choose to field first. Dhaka’s ace seamer Dolar Mahmud did not disappoint his skipper as he dismissed both Khulna openers Mehedi Hasan (2) and Hasanuzzaman (12) with only 18 runs on board.
Anamul Haque with Tushar Imram and Mohammad Mithun took the Khulna score to some respectability at 141 for 3. But with Tushar departing at 24 and Mithun at 36, Dhaka bowlers wrested back the control.
Dhaka Metro’s old season campaigner Arafat Sunny struck the vital blow as he dismissed Anamul for a superb 62 runs off 136 balls with five boundaries and a six.
Dolar, Abu Hider, Sunny and Sharifullah polished off the Khulna tail. Things could have been worst as veteran Abdur Razzak delayed the rot with breezy 34 not out off 41 deliveries studded with three boundaries and one six helping Khulna cross 200 mark.
Khulna were finally bowled out for 207 in 62nd over in their first innings.
Dolar captured five Dhaka Metro scalps for 53 runs. He was well supported by Hider and Sunny with two wickets each.
In reply, Dhaka Metro also had a torrid start in their first innings as they were reduced to 37 for 3 in 11 overs when the first day’s play ended with opener Shamsur Rahman (not out) on 14.
Ashiquzzaman, Ziaur rahman and Al Amin Hossain took one wicket each for Khulna.
