World Kidney Day today

The 10th World Kidney Day will be observed in Bangladesh today (Thursday) like other countries in the world for raising awareness about kidney diseases.
This observance, taking place on the second Thursday of every March since 2006, was established by two organisations, the International Federation of Kidney Foundations and the International Society of Nephrology, to raise awareness of kidney diseases, especially chronic kidney disease (CKD).
The day will focus on the positive outcome to create awareness to protect kidney with the slogan ‘Kidney health for all’ as there are around two crore people in the country now affected by kidney ailment.
Kidney experts advised people that as kidney diseases may not lead to noticeable symptoms until late, it is important to know the risk factors and be tested regularly.
Different organisations have chalked out elaborate programme to mark the day today.
International Society of Nephrology and International Federation of Kidney Foundation will organize a rally from Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IEDB) building in city’s Kakrail to Matshya Bhaban.
A discussion on Kidney Day will also be organised at IEDB auditorium at 9 am today.
