The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday filed a case against former Mayor of Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) and BNP leader Sadeque Hossain Khoka on charge of allocating 138 shops, misusing his power.
ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar told The New Nation on Thursday evening that Deputy Director of the
Commission Mahbubul Alam filed the case against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1947 with Shahbagh Police Station.
According to the first information report (FIR), Khoka illegally allocated 138 shops of 10 city markets, including Kabi Nazrul College’s market and Nababbari Super Market from 2005 to 2011 when he was the city mayor.
He allocated the shops misusing his power for personal gain, the FIR said.
On August 24, 2014, the ACC filed another case against the former DCC and seven others for allegedly building shops, occupying parking lots and open spaces at Bangabazar and the Dhaka Trade Centre in Bangabandhu Avenue illegally.
