Entertainment Report :A powerful actor of the silver screen – Khalilullah Khan is no more. This legendary film actor died of heart ailments in the city’s Square Hospital yesterday morning. He was 80. Khalil starred in nearly 800 films who left behind a treasure trove of memorable performances. He had been suffering from lung, liver and kidney ailments for some years and was hospitalised several times after falling critically ill. His body was taken to his home in the city’s Noorjahan Road, Mohammadpur area. A large number of people from Bangladesh’s cultural world were seen in the hospital lobby along with media persons, who had rushed there on learning of the actor’s death. Khalil’s Namaz-e-Janaza was held at his long-time work place, the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) at 3:00pm. He was buried in Mohammadpur Graveyard after Esha prayers. Khalil was born on February 1, 1932 in Sylhet. Under the direction of Zahir Raihan and Kalim Sharafi Khalil started his film career as a hero by movie Sonar Kajol. Sultana Zaman and Sumita Devi were his heroines in the movie. Khalil acted in many renowned films like Preet Na Jane Reet, Jongli Phool, Bini Sutar Mala, Sonar Cheye Dami, Megher Pore Megh, Modhumoti, etc. Khalil earned huge appreciation for his character Mia in Songsaptak aired on BTV.In recognition of his contribution to the country’s film industry, he was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award in National Film Award in 2012.He was also the President of Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association.
