Md S Alam Shabuj, a husband whose wife died recently during child birth at Gonoshathaya Nagar Hospital of the city, filed a case yesterday against the hospital and its Director Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury over negligence of duty by a physician which led to the death of a pregnant woman during childbirth.
The case was filed with the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Devdas Chandra Adhikari on Tuesday. The pregnant woman hailed from Rajfulbaria Para of Savar. After recording complainant’s depositions, the court ordered the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate to probe the allegation.
Complainant’s lawyer Rokeya Khatun confirmed the matter to the media people. The case was filed under sections 302(Ka)/34 of the Penal Code. It has been alleged that although the hospital authorities, assured of an amicable settlement of event, but during the last three months no solution could be managed.
