Khalid Mahmood Mithu’s artistic career demonstrates a remarkable versatility in expression and creative inspiration. The sheer diversity of his works, which include television features, photography, creative writing and most notably filmmaking and directing, are a testament to his bold confidence as an artist.Although he is widely celebrated for elevating the language and substance of contemporary Bangladeshi films, he has not allowed mass commercial success to diminish his intimate lifelong connection with painting. Deconstructing, his eleventh solo painting exhibition after six years, is a powerful declaration of his integrity and conviction as an artist. Painting has always been a natural extension of his soul an important element constructing his spirit. This latest collection of paintings and prints continues his deep relationship with art as an indispensable tool in finding meaning behind the human condition. All of the works on display were created during the filming of his most recent cinematic release, Jonakir Alo and can therefore be viewed as a visual journal of the topics and themes that arouse his creative intuition beyond the camera lens. The exhibition will continue till May 15. n
