BSS, Dhaka :
Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud said the verdict in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case has proved that none is above the law and everyone is equal in the eyes of law.
“The verdict of BNP Chief Begum Khaleda Zia and her son Tarique Rahman in the Zia Orphanage graft case is ‘very desired’ to the common people…The verdict proved that none is above the law and all are equal in the eyes of law,” he said this on Friday while speaking at a discussion at an auditorium of Jatiya Press Club (JPC) here.
Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote (BSJ) organized the meeting on Khaleda’s graft case verdict with its Advisor and AL leader Chittaranjan Das in the chair.
Jatiya Party (JP) Additional Secretary General Sadek Siddique, BSJ General Secretary Arun Sarker Rana, Dhaka city AL leaders Nurul Amin Ruhul, Minhaj Uddin Mintu, Nowsher Ali, Mizanur Rahman Bitu and Iddris Ahmed Mallik, among others, addressed the meeting.
Terming the verdict as a milestone, Mahmud said the common people of the country are so much happy over it.
He said, “We don’t want to ridicule anyone’s emotion…They are now crying over the verdict. But BNP burned to death hundreds of people at the directive of Begum Zia in 2014.”
Mahmud said “It is condemnable that BNP leaders and activists carried out destructive activities to foil the verdict of Zia Orphanage Trust graft case to protect Khaleda Zia.”
He said BNP failed to foil the verdict announcement as the law enforcers were alert to avert any untoward situation entering this.
