Khaleda’s statement about judiciary untrue: Anisul

Law Minister Anisul Huq on Sunday said, BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s statement about the judiciary was not true.
“We all should respect the judiciary and courts of Bangladesh and everybody should express it,” he said while talking to reporters after attending a seminar in a hotel at Gulshan of Dhaka city.

 said at a meeting of party’s Executive Committee that “everybody knows that judiciary is independent; but actually, it is not so”.
“I am sorry, what she (Khaleda) said is totally untrue, I have said earlier and I am still saying that the trial proceedings (in the case against Khaleda Zia) have been held in the court on the basis of documents and evidence,” Law Minister said.
Judges deliver judgements based on the documents and evidences, he said.
About the resignation of Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah from the post of the Supreme Court’s judge, the Law Minister said, it is personal decision of a judge whether to resign or not.
