Staff Reporter :
The BNP on Sunday accused the government of canceling its Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s nomination papers as part of their (govt) blueprint.
“Government is keen to hold a lopsided election again. Our party chief’s nomination papers have been rejected as part of the government’s ill-motivated blueprint to keep her away from the ensuing polls,” said BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan office. Rizvi said also that their party’s some other popular candidate’s nomination papers were also annulled as the government was trying to hold one-sided polls and cling to power by force.
The Election Commission on Sunday rejected the nomination papers of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia for contesting the parliamentary election from Bogura-6 and 7 and Feni-1 constituencies due to her conviction in two graft cases.
