Khaleda’s bail pleas in two cases rejected

Two courts of Dhaka yesterday rejected the bail petitions of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in the cases filed on the charge of “undermining” the national flag and celebrating “fake” birthday on August 15.

Magistrate Court (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Thursday rejected the bail plea in the case lodged for celebrating “fake” birthday on August 15.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ahsan Habib also of the CMM Court rejected the bail plea in connection with the case filed for “undermining” the national flag.
Earlier, the courts of Metropolitan Magistrate Md Khurshid Alam and Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ahsan Habib fixed the date to pass orders on the bail petitions.
The Appellate Division on June 11 directed the lower courts to dispose of the bail petitions by June 25.
Khaleda Zia was convicted and sent to jail on February 8 in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case and later shown arrested in seven other cases filed in Dhaka, Comilla, Khulna and Narail.
