Court Correspondent :BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will not be able to appear to the court on Monday in Zia Orphanage and Charitable Trust graft cases due to her illness.The BNP Chairperson’s lawyer Sanaullah Mia said the newsmen on Sunday, “As she is ill she will go abroad for treatment.”Earlier, on August 3, the makeshift court set up in Aliya Madrasa ground of Bakshibazar area, adjourned the hearing till August 10 in the Zia Charitable Trust graft case against four persons including Khaleda Zia.Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar of Dhaka’s Special Judge Court-3 fixed the date on Monday last, after defense counsel Khandaker Mahbub Hossain cross-examined the complainant and the first witness, ACC Deputy Director Harun-or-Rashid. On August 8, 2011, the ACC filed the Zia Charitable Trust graft case with Tejgaon Police Station accusing four people, including Khaleda Zia, for abusing power in raising funds for the Trust from unknown sources. ACC Deputy Director Harunur Rashid, and also an Investigation Officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet of the case against the accused on January 16, 2012.Besides, the ACC filed the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on July 3, 2008 with Ramna Police Station against Khaleda Zia, her son Tarique Rahman, now living in the UK and four others for misappropriating over Tk 2.10 crore which came as grants from a foreign bank for orphans.On August 5, 2010, Harunur Rashid submitted the charge sheet against six people, including BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
