Khaleda verdict a warning for corrupts: Quader

Awami League general secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday said the court’s verdict against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is a warning message for corrupt politicians in the country.
“The judgment that the court delivered against Begum Khaleda Zia is a caution for the country’s corrupt politicians,” he said.
Quader made the remark while inaugurating the superstructure work of the Kanchpur, Meghna and
Gomti Second Bridge Project at Meghnaghat in Sonargaon under Narayanganj district.
He said the jail is a normal phenomenon in the life of a politician.
The Minister said BNP proved that it was a self-confessed party of corrupt persons by removing the Section-7 from the party’s charter to pave the way for convict to become the leaders of the party.
If anyone does politics, he has to serve in the jail, he said adding that they had to endure jail and repression.
Quader hoped that the Prime Minister would open the project in November.
He said Tk 700 crore will be saved from the project involving Tk 12,000 crore.
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is using the advanced technology in the construction work of the bridges and ensured a100-year longevity.
