Khaleda takes first Iftar with orphans, ulema

BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, along with senior leaders of her party, took Iftar with orphans and alem-ulemas (Islamic scholars) on the first day of the fasting month of Ramzan on Monday.
The former premier hosted the Iftar party at the Ladies Club in the city. Before taking Iftar, she exchanged pleasantries with the invited guests. Orphans from different orphanages in the city joined the Iftar party, while some Islamic scholars from different areas of the country joined it.
Maulana Kamal Jafori of Narsingdi Jameya Quashemia Madrasah, Maulana Noor Hossain Quashemi of Baridhara Madrasha, Maulana Monir Ahmed of Hathazari Madrasha, Maulana Mozaffar Ahmed of Potia Masrasha, Peer of Modhupur Maulana Shah Abdul Halim and Peer of Chharsina Sharif Shah Arif Billah Siddique joined the Iftat party, among the Islamic scholars.
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee members Dr RA Gani, Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar, Brig Gen (Retd) ASM Hannan Shah, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan and Mirza Abbas also attended the function, among other BNP leaders.
A special munajat was offered before the Iftar seeking divine blessings for peace and progress of the country and welfare of its people.
