Ehsanul Haque Jasim :BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia doesn’t trust her party’s senior leaders as well Dhaka city unit leaders because she thinks that they are misguiding her in many ways, reliable sources said. In this situation, the BNP chief is now preparing the roadmap of the anti-government movement very secretly. Sources said that Khaleda Zia is consulting with some selected persons. She will finally launch street movement in the last week of December targeting January 5, the anniversary of the ‘one-sided’ election which was boycotted by the BNP-led alliance. The BNP-led 20-party alliance is planning to organise a grand rally in the city on January 5 or hold rallies across the country on the day to express ‘no-confidence’ in the government. That day, Khaleda Zia may call hartal and other programmes demanding fresh polls under a non-party government system. She wants to take the movement to a height by March. She will call for isolating Dhaka from the rest of the country if the government obstructs the programmes. In addition, BNP is also working for international pressure on the government.None of the BNP leaders or the leaders of the alliance partners were willing to be quoted in the media about the roadmap of the street movement. Khaleda Zia on Thursday at the convention of the student leaders of the 90s and current student leaders and workers asked them to get ready for a tougher movement, saying that a decisive movement will be launched soon. “Remain ready. I will call you anytime on the streets,” she asked them.In the meeting, the BNP chief also assured the leaders and grassroots workers that the streets of the Dhaka city won’t remain empty this time unlike the past. She made the assurance in reaction to the allegations of former student leaders, who are now living outside Dhaka. In the day-long convention, they expressed annoyance at the role of BNP’s senior and the Dhaka city leaders, saying that the movement prior to the January-5 election failed due to their inactive role. Observers said that Khaleda Zia in her statement cleared that she was going to launch movement in the beginning of New Year. She also cleared that she had specific plan to strengthen the movement in the city. She is not disclosing the strategy. In her statement, she hinted that she couldn’t trust the city unit leaders.Meanwhile, it was reported that the BNP’s movement roadmap was now in the hands of the intelligence forces. Three intelligence forces submitted reports to the government in this regard. When asked, BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, their party is an open party. The leaders and the workers of the party are not involved with violence or subversive acts. So the intelligence agencies won’t submit any negative report about the party, he added. About the movement, he said that Khaleda Zia will announce tougher course of action soon. Secretary General of Bangladesh NAP M Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan said that the people of the country are waiting for a tougher movement in the beginning of the New Year. “The 20-party alliance will take to the street. Khaleda Zia herself said that street programme will be launched soon. So wait and see,” he said. On the other hand, some BNP leaders said that they have information that Khaleda Zia and a number of other senior leaders of the party would be arrested by March. The government is planning to split the party after the arrests. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC)’s two cases against Khaleda Zia are the part of this process.BNP standing committee member Goyeswar Chandra Roy recently said that Khaleda Zia could be arrested any time as per the government’s ‘evil plan’.Mirza Fakhrul, however, said, this government can do anything. It filed cases against Khaleda Zia and other BNP leaders in attempt to keep the BNP away from the election and politics, he added.
