Niko graft case: Khaleda, other suspects to be summoned Jan 3

The court has ordered that BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and the 10 other suspects in the Niko graft case be summoned for a hearing on the report on the case filed by the FBI and Canadian intelligence.

Judge Sheikh Hafizur Rahman has ordered all the accused to be present in court on the day.
In a hearing on Sunday, Anti-Corruption Commission lawyer Mosharaf Hosaain Kajol told the court that the case was been tried at both home and foreign courts. Foreign investigators have been called upon to testify on their reports.
On the other hand, Khaleda’s lawyers Abdur Rezzak Khan and Masud Ahmed Talukder petitioned to the court to push back the hearing date and said that they will raise objections regarding the matter.
They said that the case was important and the hearing should be held in the presence of all the accused.
On Nov 22 Attorney General Mahbubey Alam submitted the investigation report of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the US FBI to the court. He also petitioned to collect of signatures of some personnel from the Canadian police and the FBI involved in the investigation.
