Khaleda joins social media; opens Twitter account

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Thursday formally joined the social media networks by opening a Twitter account.
She inaugurated her Twitter account at her party’s discussion at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh, marking BNP’s 38th founding anniversary. In her first twit, the BNP chief urged the country’s people to get united to defeat ‘authoritarianism and win democracy and freedom’.
She also inaugurated website of BNP (www.bnpbangladesh.com ) and party’s Facebook page (bnp.communication), Twitter account (bnpbangladesh) and a blog (www.bangladeshivoices.blogspot.com ).
Party senior leaders were present during the inauguration of the social media pages and sites.
BNP and its front and associate bodies marked the day with various programmes, including discussions and hoisting party flags atop its offices across the country. In observance of the day, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, accompanied by party leaders and activists, paid tributes to party founder Ziaur Rahman by placing a wreath at his grave at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital in the morning and offered fateha there around 11:20am.
