Staff Reporter :BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia joined the Dhaka City Corporations elections campaign on Saturday. She sought vote for her party-backed mayor and councillor candidates. On the day, the BNP chief campaigning for Tabith Awal, the party-blessed mayor candidate in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) polls. She visited different areas of Gulshan and sought votes for Tabith and party-backed councillor candidates. Flanked by Tabith and some other leaders and activists, began election campaign from the Pink City Shopping Mall at Gulshan in the city in the afternoon. During the campaign, she was waving her hands from inside her car to draw the peoples’ attention in favour of Tabith while visiting several streets in the area. Later, she went to some shops and urged the people to vote for the BNP-backed candidate. She also carried the portrait of Tabith to make her effort a success. Khaleda Zia then went to the DCC Market at Gulshan-1. She campaigned for Tabith on the ground floor of the market. Farukh Hossain, BNP-blessed councillor aspirant of Ward No 20, was also with the campaign team.The BNP chief came to the scene of electioneering without any prior announcement. Earlier on Tuesday, she at a function in front of the BNP’s Nayapaltan central office identified Tabith for the DNCC polls. She also requested vote for Mirza Abbas in the mayor post of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
