BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday took part in a doa mahfil and munajat arranged at her Gulshan office marking the chehlum of her late younger son Arafat Rahman Koko.

vice chairman Selima Rahman and Mohila Dal general secretary Shirin Sultana joined the programme from her chamber on the 1st floor at her office.
The doa mahifil and the munajat were held after Asar prayers seeking the salvation of Koko’s departed soul.
Mufti MM Ashraful Islam, a teacher of Mohammadpur Madrasah, conducted the munajat.
Noted jurist barrister Rafique-Ul Haque and former BNP leader Maj (retd) Akhtaruzzaman and some relatives went to the Gulshan office and attended the chehlum.
Besides, BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan, her adviser MA Qaiyum, press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan, special assistants Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Mahbub Alam Dew, her security personnel and office and media staff, who have been staying in the office since January 3, also participated in the programme.
Some students and teachers from two madrasahs in the capital recited the Holy Quran from morning on the occasion, marking the 40 days of Koko’s death which coincides with the date of Khaleda’s court appearance before a special court in two graft cases. The BNP did not appear the court for ‘security reasons’.
Plainclothes police and members of special branch of police were deployed around Khaleda’s office in the morning. They did not allow some BNP leaders and activists to enter the office to join the chehlum.
Some leaders and activists took part in the munajat from outside the office.
