Khaleda hosts Iftar for diplomats

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia hosted an iftar party in honour of foreign diplomats working in Bangladesh on Monday on the second day of the fasting month of Ramzan.
Ambassadors, high commissioners, mission chiefs, charge d’ affaires and other envoys from 40 countries attended the iftar.
Before the iftar, Khaleda went round the banquet hall and exchanged pleasantries with the guests at the party at a city hotel.
The BNP chief took iftar flanked by US Ambassador Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat, Indian High Commissioner Harsha Bardhan Shringla, British High Commissioner Alison Blake, Vatican Ambassador Archbishop George Kocherry, Chinese Ambassador Ma Mingqiang, Kuwaiti Ambassador Adel Mohammad Hayat, EU Ambassador Pierre Mayaudon, Pakistan High Commissioner Rafiuzzaman Siddiqui, Turkish Ambassador Devrim Oztur, Norwegian Ambassador Sidsel Bleken and former BNP foreign Minister M Morshed Khan.
Ex-Dhaka University VC Dr Emajuddin Ahmed, Prof Mahbub Ullah, Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, former Jahangirnagar University VC Prof Khandker Mustahidur Rahman, Dr Shahdeen Malik, ex-foreign secretary MR Osmani, Prof Sukomal Barua, Prof Borhanuddin and Advocate Elina Khan, among others, joined the programme.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, its senior leaders Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Moudud Ahmed, Jamiruddin Sircar, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Abdul Awal Mintoo, Inam Ahmed, Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, Mir Mohammad Nasir, Reaz Rahman, Sabihuddin Ahmed and Asaduzzaman Ripon were, among others, present.
A munajat was offered before the iftar seeking divine blessings for peace and progress of the country and the welfare of its people.
