UNB, Dhaka :
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday said BNP leader Khaleda Zia has gone back to her home with the agony of failure and defeat after staying in her office for long 92 days aiming to topple the government.
“She (Khaleda) has suffered a heavy defeat, she got back home embracing the failure and defeat,” she said.
The Prime Minister was speaking at a programme of leaders of Dhaka city Awami League from North and South units arranged to congratulate them on their success to resist the BNP-Jamaat evil forces from destroying the country.
Sheikh Hasina, also the President of the ruling Awami League, said Khaleda Zia returned to her home after 92 days though she had earlier said she would not return until the Awami League government is dislodged.
“She had vowed to return home with a floral necklace around her neck, but she couldn’t. Instead, she had to appear before the court and returned home after having been defeated from all aspects and with all the agonies,” Hasina quipped.
She said, Khaleda Zia had thought that she would be able to oust the government
sitting in her office. “She (khaleda) couldn’t return to her home as a winner, she returned with the agony of failure,” she added.
The Awami League chief thanked the country’s people, especially the leaders and activists of Dhaka Awami League, for shattering Khaleda’s dream.
Hasina said, this is the victory of the pro-liberation forces who want to uphold the country’s Independence and its socio-economic development and build the country as ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. “We must uphold this win.”
Hasina also said, Awami League leaders and activists have to forge a firm unity so that no one could block Bangladesh’s march forward.
Comparing the BNP-Jamaat’s destructive activities with nor’wester and cyclone’, the Prime Minister said, “Such nor’wester and cyclone can hit any time…we’ll have to remain ready to face these…I know you’re ready,” she said. Noting that the present government has been in power through the country’s people and it is there just to serve them. “Those who are against humanity, and those who are killers, terrorists and militants cannot win …the victory is for those who are engaged in people’s welfare,” she added.
