Khaleda files bail pleas in 2 more cases

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Tuesday filed more two petitions with the High Court (HC) seeking bail in two more cases.
The lawyers of BNP Chairperson said that they received permission from the HC bench of Justice
M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahidul Karim for affidavit of the bail petitions.
Advocate Khandker Mahbub Hossain and Advocate A J Mohammad Ali appeared in the court on her behalf.
One of the cases was filed by journalist Kazi Zahirul Islam on August 30, 2016, accusing Khaleda of observing birthday on August 15 on ‘false date’.
The other, a defamation suit, was filed by A B Siddique, President of Bangladesh Jananetri Parishad, on November 3, 2016, for allowing a Jamaat Minister to use the national flag on their vehicle after BNP came to power in 2001.
Earlier on May 20, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia filed three petitions with the High Court seeking bail in three cases.
The bench of Justice A K M Asaduzzaman and Justice J B M Hassan on Tuesday started hearing on the two of the three petitions and adjourned the hearing till today (Wednesday).
Of the three cases, two were filed in Comilla on charge of vandalising vehicles on January 25 in 2015 and killing seven persons and injuring 25-26 by setting fire to a passenger bus at Chauddagram on February 2, 2015.
The third case was filed by one Raihan Faruki Imam with a Narail court on September 24, 2015, for making a statement about the number of freedom fighters and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Earlier on May 16, the SC upheld a HC order that granted bail to Khaleda for four months in Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case in which she was sentenced to five years imprisonment.
But she is still in the jail as she has been shown arrested in seven other cases in including the three.
