Staff Reporter :
The brick and sand-laden trucks, which were parked before the Gulshan office of BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, were removed on Monday evening. The law enforcers parked at least 10 brick and sand-laden trucks on Sunday night apparently to restrict Khaleda Zia’s come out from the office to join Monday’s planned rally of the BNP-led 20-party alliance. Khaleda Zia was not allowed to leave the office. Sources said that police removed the trucks from in front of Gulshan office. A huge number of law enforcers were deployed outside the office. The number of the law enforcers was also decreased from Monday evening.
Meanwhile, the BNP chief fell ill on Monday evening ‘due to the impact of pepper spray’ police used on the party leaders and activists inside her office in the after when she was trying to come out of the office.
Khaleda Zia’s press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel said that the BNP chief fell ill due to the poisonous effect of the pepper spray. He said that doctors were providing treatment to the BNP chief. Meanwhile, most of the Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal leaders present at the BNP chief’s office also became sick under the impact of the pepper spray, Sohel said.
When aggrieved BNP leaders and activists started hitting the BNP chief’s office gate in an apparent bid to break it open after police barred Khaleda Zia from coming out of it, police used pepper spray to disperse them.
