Khaleda Zia started the food distribution programme from Khilgaon Jorpukur field. Then she went to Abdul Aziz High School at Madartek, in front of Ovisar Cinema Hall at Tikatuli, Gandaria Katherpool, Doyaganj
intersection, Shaheed Faruk Road at Jatrabari, Alam Market of Jurain, Dholaipar Bus stand and Shyampur Eid Gaon.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Mirza Abbas, Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal and Shama Obaed were present, among others.
The BNP leaders, meanwhile, accused the government of failing to check the price hike of essential commodities, apprehending that the price level might go up further.
The leaders made the accusation while distributing foods among the poor on the occasion of the 35th death anniversary of the party’s founder and ex- President Ziaur Rahman.
“The country’s wealth is being looted and the government has failed to check it,” said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir while distributing foods to the poor people at Tikatuli in the city on the day.
The party standing committee member and Dhaka city unit convener Mirza Abbas also held the government responsible for the price hike.
“The ruling party supporters has hiked the price by making syndicate,” Mirza Abbas said while distributing foods to the poor at Khilgaon in the city.
Mirza Abbas alleged that the government has filed false cases against party chief Begum Khaleda Zia, so that no one could dare say anything against the government’s misrules.
He criticized the government for the force disappearances and killing of people across the country during its reign. He urged the government to hold dialogue with the BNP for a fair election.
