Sports Reporter :
Experienced pacer Kemar Roach of West Indies said they are expecting to show better performance in the Test series against Bangladesh after a conceding a 3-0 whitewash in the recently concluded ODI series. The Caribbeans played with an inexperienced squad in the ODIs, nine cricketers made debut while and tasted three big defeates.
Before the upcoming Test series Kemar Roach played 60 Test matches, will present some veteran leadership in the Test squad, with only five cricketers retained from the group selected for the three One Day International (ODI) matches.
Roach said, “The three-match ODI series didn’t go as we expected.”
He said, “We have to understand Our ODI squad consisted with young and inexperienced players. It was just a chance for those guys to learn and learn from it, and improve their matches to come back stronger. Some players are in our Test squad before. We know what to expect. I expect our players will show a better brand of cricket. They will give a better fight and win some matches for the West Indies.”
Roach gives emphasis on staying positive ahead of the Tests despite the team’s dismal performance in the ODIs. The Caribbeans failed to reach the 200-run mark in any of the three matches.
He said, “We will be positive and execute our plans in the best possible way. Tour of Bangladesh is always a tough task. Our players are working hard for three weeks.”
“We know what we have to do to put a good score on the board, and take 20 wickets in the match. It is about going out there and giving it our best shot, and put in a good show,” Roach said.
Roach will link up with Shannon Gabriel in the Test team, the pair having collected 354 wickets together in the five-day format.
“I think Shannon is in a good form right now. I have been doing okay myself. It is all about us, trying to get our best performance here,” he concluded.
