Zee Media Bureau, New Delhi :
A day after reports suggested that Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung has sought President Pranab Mukherjee’s permission to invite the Bharatiya Janata Party to form the government in Delhi, BJP on Saturday said it will explore options once asked for.
Talking to a news agency, Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay again denied receiving an official invite from Jung, but added the party will take a call once invited to form government in Delhi.
He also said that the BJP is ready to contest elections, even if they are announced tomorrow. According to party sources, Upadhyay met senior party leader and Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday to “discuss” the matter.
A delegation of Aam Aadmi Party calls on President Pranab Mukherjee to request him not to allow Jung to invite BJP to form government in the national capital. Sources in AAP said President’s Secretariat has given appointment to the party for a meeting this evening.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Manish Tewari took a jibe at the BJP, saying if the single largest party in Delhi Assembly is not scared, why doesn’t the Lt Governor recommend elections for Delhi along with other states.
