KCC to implement housing project for Horizon people

A housing development project for Horizon people is likely to be implemented by Khulna City Corporation ( KCC) , sources said.
Mentionable in this connection that the Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khalek recently said, KCC is going to be implemented a housing infrastructure development project for improving the living and livelihood condition of Horijon community people in the city.
“The constructions of housing infrastructure development project has already begun and the project would be completed within short period ,” he said while addressing as chief guest at a divisional meeting of Khulna District and City units of Bangladesh Horijon Oikkay Parishad (BHOP) at Khulna Press Club auditorium on Saturday afternoon.
“The Constitution of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh has ensured equal rights for all citizens. Horijons community is not out of it”, KCC Mayor said . He further said that the present government has taken massive programs for standards living and livelihood conditions of Horijon people.
He again said that the project has adopted considering the vulnerability of the marginalized population. The project has provision of uplifting road, drain, footpath and other infrastructures.
He mentioned that the Horijon poor people with their recurrent disaster exposures are migrating into urban areas. These new comers face a high employment crisis in city and with very poor-quality housing and other well- being further trapping them into a deeper urban poverty cycle.
President of Bangladesh Horijon Oikko Parishad (BHOP) Central committee Krishna Lal presided over the divisional meeting while President of Khulna District Awami league and Chairman of Khulna Zila Parishad Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid attended the meeting as special guest.
General Secretary of BHOP Nirmol Chandra Das, President of City Puja Udjapan Parishad Shamol Halder, Councilor Shamsuzzaman Mia, also addressed in the meeting.
It is notable that the Horijon community welcomed the decision of implementation of the project.
