Channel i published noted Persian novelist Omar Khayyam’s perpetual book The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam translated by Kazi Nazrul Islam at a programme held at Channel i office in the city’s Tejgaon area yesterday. Lions Club of Dhaka sponsored the event.
Director General of Bangla Academy Shamsuzzaman Khan was present as chief guest in the book launching ceremony while President of Lions Club of Dhaka and publisher of the book Inamul Haque Khan, grandson of Kazi Nazrul Islam Kazi Anirban, granddaughter Kazi Anindita and Khilkhil Kazi, Governor of Lions Club Swadesh Ranjan, executive director of Nazrul Institute Iqram Ahmed, noted Nazrul singers Shahin Samad and Fatema-tuz-Zohra, poet Rezauddin Stalin, among others, were also present on the occasion.
It may be mentioned that the book was first published from Kolkata in 1935 and later in 1958.
