Kazi Hayat, Mazharul Islam receive Fazlul Haque Memorial Award

The Fazlul Haque Memorial Award 2021 were given
to the National Film Award winning filmmaker Kazi Hayat and celebrated cine journalist Mazharul Islam for their contribution to film direction and cine-journalism. The award ceremony took place at Channel i’s studio
on October 26. Both winners got Tk25,000 as well
as crests and certificates of honour.
Noted writer Rabeya Khatun initiated the award in memory of her husband Fazlul Haque, the pioneer of film
journalism in the country, in 2004. Since then, the award is given every year. Fazlul Haque was the editor of the first film magazine Cinema, the director of the first children’s film President featured by Faridur Reza Sagar. The BFDC has named one of its biggest auditoriums ‘Fazlul Haque Memorial Auditorium’ to pay tribute to Fazlul Haque.
